“I really liked camp because it taught me a lot about my asthma. At the camp I learned how to breathe better when I run. Now I can run farther without getting tired. Before the camp I would wheeze at night and it was hard to sleep. Now I sleep better.”

Vouchers For Free HFA Inhalers Available for Uninsured Partients

Breathe California is offering vouchers to Bay Area residents via partnership with the Respiratory and Allergic Disease Foundation and Teva Specialty Pharmaceuticals

San Jose , Calif. – Breathe California is proud to announce that it is offering vouchers good for one, free ProAir HFA (albuterol sulfate) aerosol inhaler to un-insured or under-insured Bay Area residents. The vouchers, which were donated by the Respiratory and Allergic Disease Foundation in partnership with Teva Specialty Pharmaceuticals, are now available on a first-come, first served basis.

This special opportunity comes as countless albuterol inhaler users – which include individuals with asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis and other forms of lung disease – are being transitioned to HFA inhalers. On January 1, CFC albuterol inhalers were banned from sale in the U.S. as part of an international agreement to reduce ozone-depleting CFCs from the atmosphere. While HFA albuterol inhalers are a safe and effective alternative, there are currently no generic brands available. As a result, this charitable program seeks to help offset the cost of paying for brand-name devices.

While supplies last, the vouchers are available free of charge to uninsured patients or anyone whose medications are non-reimbursable by Medicare, Medi-Cal, or a private insurer. To receive a voucher, please complete a short application form (available at www.lungsrus.org) and bring it along with a copy of your prescription to the offices of Breathe California at 1469 Park Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126. Vouchers can then be redeemed at any pharmacy when presented with your prescription.

For close to 100 years, Breathe California has fought lung disease in all its forms and worked with its communities to protect lung health. For questions about obtaining one of these vouchers, contact Breathe California by calling (408) 998-5865 or visiting www.lungsrus.org.

The Respiratory and Allergic Disease Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by physicians dedicated to improving care for patients with allergic and respiratory diseases.
