COPD Patients: All Aboard for the 14th Annual Smooth Sailing Cruise

This September, Breathe California invites local lung disease patients to come sail away for an Alaskan adventure. In partnership with the American Respiratory Alliance of Western Pennsylvania, we are sponsoring a seven-night cruise that will allow you to explore Glacier Bay National Park and four other Alaskan ports of call. The all-inclusive cruise helps take the worry out of traveling by coordinating guests’ oxygen arrangements and providing volunteer medical staff onboard. Space is limited, so learn more now!

Now is also a great time to check out our Better Breathers Club. With meetings in San Jose, Palo Alto and Gilroy, the BBC offers you a great opportunity to meet other patients and learn strategies to breathe easier!

Faces in Focus: Join Pledge Runner Vicki Hudson at the 2008 ING Bay to Breakers 12K

Vicki Hudson brings an extraordinary passion that is fueled by her desire to help a cause close to her heart. An Army veteran who served in the first Gulf War, Vicki began noticing herself struggling to catch her breath.  Although she was in great shape, the most routine tasks left her panting. Upon returning home, she was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis and vasomotor rhinitis – developed from exposure to vast amounts of dust and airborne toxins near the Iraq border. In spite of her diagnosis, Vicki has pledged to continue pursuing activities she enjoys.

“I'm not going to let chronic bronchitis keep me down,” says Vicki. “Running in the Bay to Breakers and raising money to fight lung disease is one small way I can help make sure everyone can breathe and breathe well.”

Join Vicki on race day by signing up as a Breathe California pledge runner. Can’t make it? You can still support Vicki’s efforts by donating to her personal fundraising page. Every dollar helps!
