Join Us This July for the Bike 4 Breath!

Bike for BreathBreathe California of the Bay Area is proud to be joining its sister office in Daly City to host the 16th annual Bike for Breath on Saturday, July 14, 2007! This family-friendly event invites all Bay Area residents to join us for a beautiful ride along the picturesque hills throughout the Peninsula while raising money for critical lung disease programs and services. Starting from Foster City, the Bike for Breath offers 4 routes ranging from 10 to 62 miles, making this event something that riders of all ages and abilities can enjoy. The event also offers a festive atmosphere with great food, music, massage therapists, free bike inspections, prizes and more. Learn more about the 16th annual Bike for Breath event.

Breathe California Recognizes World Asthma Day Across the Bay Area

On May 1st, Breathe California joined health advocates around the globe in recognizing World Asthma Day. Here in the Bay Area, the agency commemorated the event by kicking off a host of May programs and activities designed to raise awareness of the chronic lung disease and help asthma patients take control of their condition. Agency Launches New Planned Giving Resource

Breathe California is proud to announce that it has launched a new online resource to help you better understand the gift planning process. Through a partnership with Future Focus, Breathe California has now dedicated a section of its website to information on “tax-wise giving.” Here you can learn about different avenues for not only distributing your estate, but also for making charitable gifts that can benefit yourself and the community. Learn about wills, trusts, charitable gift annuities and more!  To access these gift planning pages, click here. You can also access the section by clicking on “Support Us” from the main menu bar on the homepage and following the link to “Tax-Wise Giving.” For more information, contact Steve French at (408) 998-5865 or steve@lungsrus.org.

CLASP Closes Out Another Successful Year!

Breathe California’s innovative CLASP (Counseling Leadership Against Smoking Pressures) program shined bright again in 2006-2007. Over the year, 59 high school students took part in CLASP, presenting the 4-day program at 7 middle schools throughout the South Bay and reaching close to 600 middle school students! This included an expansion of the program to Cupertino, where Monta Vista High School and Sedgwick Elementary School participated for the first time this year. Furthermore, a number of superstar CLASP leaders were recognized by the San Jose Unified School District for their excellent presentation skills and commitment to the program. Our deepest thanks to Kaiser Permanente of Santa Clara for their generous support of the program, as well as everyone else who helped make CLASP a success in 2006-2007. Learn more about CLASP.
