December 2008

Reminder: CFC Albuterol Inhalers Will Be Unavailable Starting January 1st

Lung disease patients: Now’s the time to finally switch from a CFC albuterol inhaler to a HFA inhaler! Beginning January 1st, CFC inhalers will not be sold anywhere in the U.S. as part of an international agreement to reduce ozone-depleting CFCs from our atmosphere. With the ban’s phase-in period coming to an end, make sure you switch to a HFA inhaler now so that you’re not left unequipped the next time you need it.  Learn more about the upcoming ban on CFC inhalers.

Do you have more questions about inhalers? Visit the Mayo Clinic's website to learn more.

It’s Not Too Late to Help Us Achieve a Major Clean Air Victory

On December 12th, Breathe California will be in Sacramento fighting for one of the most promising new air quality regulations - AND IT’S NOT TOO LATE FOR YOU TO JOIN US! Hop on board our bio-diesel “Bus for Breath” and help us urge the California Air Resources Board to adopt a new rule which will vastly reduce diesel pollution from the millions of trucks on California roads. If passed, the new regulation is expected to prevent 9,400 premature deaths over the next 10 years! Learn more about this new proposal and sign up to join our clean air advocacy delegation!

Breathe California Launches Corporate Health Assessment Project

Breathe California is proud to be joining Healthy Silicon Valley to conduct a new Community Wellness Project. In partnership with the Diabetes Society, San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Silicon Valley Leadership Group and other members of Healthy Silicon Valley’s “Community Sector”, Breathe California will be coordinating the most comprehensive assessment to-date of health and wellness programs offered in Silicon Valley. By identifying successful programs as well as urgent health needs, the assessment seeks to provide a key tool as we continue working to promote healthier work environments. Our thanks also goes out to The Health Trust for their sponsorship of this important community health project!

Silicon Valley HR Staff: Please help us conduct the most thorough assessment possible, by completing this online wellness survey about your company.
