TB Cases on the Rise in Santa Clara County

On March 20, Breathe California joined community leaders and public health advocates at the county Tuberculosis Clinic to call attention to a growing public health threat. There, they announced that for the first time since 2002, Santa Clara County had seen a significant increase in active TB cases. And as chair of the Tuberculosis Prevention Partnership, Breathe California led the charge in calling for greater resources to fight the deadly disease. Agency Secures Funding for Community Room

The Valley FoundationBreathe California is proud to announce that it has been awarded two grants to help the agency add a community room in the vacant space adjacent to the office. Through the generous support of the Valley Foundation and the Santa Clara County Medical Association Alliance, we will be remodeling the space to host many of our local programs, including support group meetings and lung health workshops. We will also make the new room available for use by our non-profit partner agencies. Our deepest thanks go to these two groups for helping us better serve local lung disease patients!

Santa Clara County Medical AssociationIn addition, Breathe California will be participating in the Santa Clara County Medical Association Alliance’s 3rd annual “Meet Me at the Vineyard” event on May 20th. We invite you to join us for an afternoon full of food, music and wine, as we raise funds for the Alliance and its efforts to better the health of Santa Clara County! Learn more.

What'll Happen to Your Estate Once You’re Gone?

If you’re like most people, estate planning can be confusing, complicated and leave you with countless questions: Why do I need a will or trust? What’s the difference between the two? What needs to go in it? Yet, making plans for your estate ensures that your assets go where you want them to go. This month, Breathe California is proud to be bringing Dick Lamport of Gift Planning Associates to our April Better Breathers Club meetings to help you learn the basics about estate planning. He will explain everything you need to know, including ways to change tax dollars into money that works for loved ones, better breathing and clean air communities.
