Other Community Services
In addition to our signature programs, Breathe California is proud to offer many other general services to the community.
EQUIPMENT PROVISION
Our equipment provision program connects at-need patients with donated pieces of respiratory equipment. This includes: C-PAP/Bi-PAP machines, peak flow meters, nebulizers, air purifiers, etc. To receive equipment, you must provide us with a current prescription and be able to pick-up the equipment from our 1469 Park Avenue office in San Jose. Since patients' needs often outpace the amount of equipment we have available, you may be placed on a waiting list.
HEALTH FAIRS
We participate in health fairs at businesses, community locations and schools around the Bay Area to educate the public about critical lung health issues. At these events, we can answer questions, hand out health information, talk about various agency activities, as well as provide lung screenings upon request.
LUNG SCREENINGS
Breathe California offers screenings to help identify those suffering from lung disease or other respiratory problems. These screenings utilize a general health questionnaire and a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and can be conducted at local schools, business and other community locations throughout the Bay Area.
PRESENTATIONS
We are proud to conduct hundreds of FREE presentations every year to educate the public about important lung health issues. We are equipped to talk authoritatively on any one of our core issues, like asthma, smoking, air pollution, TB, secondhand smoke, etc. Our presentations can also be varied for people of all ages, ranging from school-age children to seniors. Presentations are often available in foreign-languages as well.
TRAININGS
Breathe California offers educational training to teachers, nurses, childcare providers and other professionals on a wide range of lung health issues. Our in-service training seek to equip participants with information about various lung related issues which their clients/patients/students may be suffering from. As a result, trainees can walk away empowered to offer support, guidance and information to protect the health of those they interact with. Click here for a list of upcoming training.
