Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CCPW)

Breathe California of the Bay Area is pleased to announce awards of mini-grants to its community partners (click for details) who will advance its smoking cessation work under a $539,000 grant funded last fall by the Santa Clara County Public Health Department.

100% of funding for the grant has been made available through a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Centers for Disease Control and Santa Clara County Public Health Department – the Center for Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention.

Santa Clara County is one of only 50 communities around the nation and one of only three counties in California to receive these Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) funds.

Goals of the local CPPW are comprehensive and include policy changes such as increased smoking restrictions, tobacco retail licensing, and increases in smoking cessation.

For more information on the CPPW click sccphd.org/tobacco-prevention. To become involved in the Inspire Tobacco Cessation Resource Network, or for smoking cessation information and assistance, call Janet at Breathe California, 998-5865.
