Parents of Asthmatic Children (PAC) Support Group
PAC meetings are designed for parents whose children suffer from asthma. This support group meets on a quarterly basis to address many of the issues surrounding their child’s asthma. Parents listen to a variety of guest speakers and are encouraged to talk to other parents with similar concerns in search of ways to manage the difficulties surrounding their child’s condition. Children are also invited to attend and take part in educational games, activities, and group discussions.
What do PAC Meetings Have to Offer?
Families with asthmatic children often face a number of challenges that can lead to anxiety, fear or conflict. It is important that parents learn to overcome obstacles and challenges presented by their child's condition and find ways to work with them to maintain a healthy and positive living environment. PAC meetings help families accomplish this by offering:
- Tips on coping and managing childhood asthma
- Updates on emerging trends in research and treatment
- Information on new services for asthma patients
- Opportunities for families to network
PAC meetings offer an excellent resource and support mechanism for those parents whose children have been diagnosed with asthma and help families learn how asthma can be managed. By participating in and learning from PAC meetings, parents and children will ultimately learn to adapt with each other and build a healthier living atmosphere.
